# Set up note templates

> Create the templates that give notes, letters and reports a ready-made structure.

Templates give notes, letters and reports a ready-made structure. Only admins can change them. They're shared with the whole practice, except that an admin who is also a practitioner saves templates as their own, which other practitioners don't see.

1. Go to **Settings › Templates** and select **New template**.
2. Name it, choose whether it's for notes, letters or reports, and write the content. Type `/` to add placeholders.
3. Select **Create template**.

Deleting a template removes it for the whole practice and can't be undone. Notes already written from it don't change.
