# Pathology requests

> Write pathology requests and set up saved tests.

A pathology request prints on your practice letterhead for the patient to take to a collection centre. Bilby doesn't send it to a laboratory.

## Who can request pathology

It depends on the specialty on your practitioner profile. Medical practitioners, nurse practitioners, midwives and dentists can. Other professions, such as psychologists and physiotherapists, can't, and neither can a profile with no specialty.

## Write a request

1. Open the patient's **Pathology** tab and select **New pathology request**.
2. Add the tests and any notes.
3. Select **Publish and print**, or **Save draft** to finish later.

A published request is part of the clinical record and can't be changed. Select **Reprint** to print it again.

## Set up saved tests

Saved tests save typing the same tests each time. An admin adds them in **Settings › Pathology tests** with **Add test**. A bundle adds several tests at once. Select **Archive** to stop offering one; you can restore it later.
