# Prescribe

> Write prescriptions with ScriptPad from the patient's record.

Prescriptions are written in ScriptPad, which opens inside Bilby. Before you can prescribe, Bilby connects your practice and an admin sets you up as a prescriber. See [Set up a prescriber](https://docs.bilby.health/integrations/eprescribing.md#set-up-a-prescriber).

## Write a prescription

1. Open the patient's **Prescriptions** tab and select **Prescribe**.
2. Write the prescription. The window closes by itself when you finish.

The prescription then shows on the Prescriptions tab. A script with repeats is one row. Select the medication to open the eScript.

## If Prescribe is greyed out

Hold the pointer over **Prescribe** to see why.

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| "Prescribing is not set up for this practice yet. Ask Bilby support to finish setting it up." | Contact Bilby support. |
| "A practitioner profile is required to prescribe" | Only someone linked to a practitioner can prescribe. |
| "Prescribing is not activated for you yet. Request activation on your Prescribing tab." | Ask an admin to request activation for you. |
| "Add your AHPRA number in Prescribing settings to prescribe." | Ask an admin to add your AHPRA number. |
