# Withdraw, delete and export notes

> Withdraw a published note, delete a draft, export notes to PDF and attach files.

## Withdraw a note

A note that has ever been published can't be deleted. If it was written in error, select **Withdraw note** in its **Note actions** menu and give a reason.

The note stays in the patient's history as a read-only withdrawn record, showing who withdrew it, when and why. It's hidden from the list until you select **Show withdrawn**, and left out of exports.

## Delete a draft

A draft that has never been published can be deleted: select **Delete note** in its **Note actions** menu, then confirm. Admins can delete any draft; practitioners can delete their own.

> Deleting a draft removes it for good. This can't be undone.

## Export notes to PDF

Only published notes can be exported. In a note's **Note actions** menu, select **Export PDF** for a plain PDF, or **Export to letter** for one on practice letterhead. To export several, tick them in the list and use **Export** above it.

## Attach files to a note

Select **Attach file** under the note to link files from the patient's **Files** tab. The note needs a linked appointment first.
