# Assignment of benefit

> Get the patient's signed assignment of benefit for a bulk bill.

Medicare requires the patient's signed assignment of benefit for every bulk-billed claim.

1. Open the bulk bill row's menu and select **Get sign-off (assignment of benefit)**.
2. Choose how the patient signs:
   * **Sign now**: hand this device to the patient to check the services and sign.
   * **Send a link**: send the patient a signing link by SMS or email.
3. Once it's signed, you can download the signed agreement from the same menu.

If a link expires before the patient signs, select **Resend link**. To send a link, the patient needs a mobile or email on file. Otherwise, use **Sign now**.

DVA claims don't need an assignment of benefit.
