# Check Medicare, concession and IHI details

> Check a patient's Medicare card, eligibility, concession and IHI.

A patient's Medicare card, IHI and concession are on their **Details** tab. Each shows when it was last checked.

## Check a patient's Medicare card

1. Add or edit the card details and save them. If you don't know the IRN, use 1.
2. Select **Check card**.
3. If Medicare holds different details, confirm them with the patient, then select **Confirm and update**.

Saving a changed card clears its last check, so check it again.

### Check eligibility for a service

On an invoice with an MBS item, select **Check eligibility**. If Medicare's details differ from the record, confirm with the patient before you update it.

## Check a concession

Select **Check concession** on the patient's **Details** tab.

## Find and check an IHI

Save any changes to the patient's name, date of birth or card first, then select **Find IHI**. You need a verified IHI for some Medicare work.

If the record says the IHI needs checking, read the change and confirm it. A retired or expired IHI can't be used.

### The HI Service log

Admins can see every HI Service lookup Bilby made for the practice in **Settings › HI Service log**.
