# Patients

> Find and add patients, keep their details and files up to date, and record referrals and who pays.

Every patient has one record in Bilby. It holds their details, appointments, notes, invoices, referrals, messages, files and forms, each on its own tab.

Anyone can add and edit patients. Only admins can merge duplicates.

## What practitioners see

A practitioner sees their own patients: anyone they have an appointment with, and new patients with no appointments yet. On the **Notes** tab, they see only the notes they wrote.
