Not every practice has this yet. Bilby turns it on for each practice. If you can’t see it, contact Bilby support.
The patient portal lets patients sign in to see their appointments and forms, book, cancel or move appointments, pay invoices and send you documents. There are no passwords.

Turn on the portal

  1. Open Settings › Patient portal and turn the portal on.
  2. Choose what patients can do, such as booking, cancelling or paying invoices, and how much notice they must give to change an appointment.
  3. Choose where patients find it: a link in reminders, or a button on your practice page.
  4. Select Save.
Portal booking uses your online booking services and schedules, so set those up first. If you let patients cancel, the time goes back on the calendar and any unpaid invoice for it is voided.

How patients sign in

The patient enters the email address on their record. Bilby emails them a code, and they enter it with their date of birth. The email comes from Bilby and doesn’t name your practice.

What patients see

Patients see their appointments, invoices to pay and forms to finish. Some appointments, such as repeating or paid ones, can’t be changed online, and patients are asked to call. Patients never see Medicare statements, rebate details or bulk-billed invoices in the portal.

Accept documents patients send

A document a patient sends isn’t added to their file until someone accepts it.
  1. Open the patient and go to Files.
  2. Under Sent by the patient, open the file.
  3. Select Accept to add it to their files, or Don’t accept to discard it.
On the patient’s Forms tab, select Send portal link. It shows only when the portal is on and the patient has an email address.
